TUSCANY AND HISTORY
History is an important element of this region, in fact many people who wrote world history were born here.
This region has been evre the cultural centre, but of five years became a politic centre too, in fact Florence was the capital of Italy for five years until the definitive attribution to Rome
Many thing and places have been included on the Unesco World Heritage list:
-Il Palazzo Comunale di Pienza
-Monumenti di Piazza dei Miracoli
-Centro storico di Firenze
-Piazza del Duomo, Pisa
-Centro storico di San Gimignano
-Centro storico di Siena
-Centro storico della città di Pienza
-Val d’Orcia
But one the most important thing for Italy is that here was born the italian languagge, from ancient Florentine languagge. This is due to the works of Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca, Giovanni Boccaccio, Niccolò Machiavelli e Francesco Guicciardini, that bestowed it
the dignity of literary languagge.
But the last step is due to Alessandro Manzoni, that wrote its main work ” I Promessi Sposi” with the new italian languagge in the epoch of the Unification of Italy.
Poetries as Dante Alighieri, Giosuè Carducci, Guido Cavalcanti were born here.
But also other geniuses as Piero della Francesca, Macchiavelli, Galileo Galilei, Antonio Meucci, who invented the telephone.
Other important people were born here such as th famous stylist, Roberto Cavalli; the ex president of Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi; The contemporary writer Oriana Fallaci and the director
Franco Zeffirelli
Also the cinema has a great importance for this region, in fact here was born ROBERTO BENIGNI, that received the Oscar for the film “La vita è bella”. Benigni doesn’t betray the predisposition for culture of its native zone, in fact another important thing in wich he is busy is the pubblic reading of Divine Commedy on Tv. This noble dedication allowed him to be
proposed as a candidate for Nobel for Literature 2007
